UEFA Nations League: Croatia to Host England Behind Closed Doors

Due to a punishment from 2015, Croatia and England will play without fans in Croatia for the upcoming UEFA Nations League match. 

Numerous international media has reported on January 30, 2018, that Croatia and England will play without fans in Croatia for the upcoming UEFA Nations League tournament set to take place from September to November this year.

UEFA has said that Croatia must fulfill a ban that was imposed back in 2015 after a swastika was drawn onto the pitch during Croatia and Italy’s Euro 2016 qualifier match at Split’s Poljud Stadium. The swastika was said to have been drawn on the pitch in protest of the Croatian Football Federation.

This ban for the match against England fulfills the two-game stadium ban ordered by UEFA in 2015. Croatia also received a 100,000 euro fine and one-point deduction. 

Croatia and England will face one another in a Croatian stadium yet to be announced, without any supporters, on October 12, 2018. 

Croatia and Spain will face one another in Croatia on November 15, 2018.
