February 15, 2024 – After playing in the European Championship final in Zagreb last month, Croatia has locked its spot in the World Championship final in Doha!
In the semi-final on Thursday, Croatia beat France 17:16 after a penalty shootout and booked their spot in the final where they will play against Italy. France and Spain will play for bronze.
The triple scorer for Croatia was Loren Fatović with three goals. Jerko Marinić Kragić and Konstantin Kharkov added two each. Alexandre Bouet scored three goals for France, and Thomas Vernoux, Romain Vernoux and Enzo Khasz added two each.
Although captain Marko Bijač defended brilliantly during the entire match, he did not save a save in the penalty shootout. Coach Ivica Tucak made the winning move and instead of Bijač sent Mate Anić to the goal, who saved a shot by Khasz for Croatia’s spot in the final!
On Saturday, Croatia will play against Italy, which defeated Spain 8:6 in the first semi-final.
