Taste of the Adriatic: Lidl promotes Croatian products in Ireland

A taste of the Adriatic… in Ireland?

As Index reported on the 11th of July, 2017, “A Taste of the Adriatic”, is the name of Lidl’s promotion this week in their catalogues in Ireland.

Ireland has become a popular place for Croats in search of better lives and higher wages over the last few years, and it looks as if Lidl wants to offer them a taste of home!

The photo featured in the catalogue is one of the most frequently taken photos of the Pearl of the Adriatic, Dubrovnik, but a large part of the products advertised have nothing to do with the Adriatic as the items themselves are produced in Bulgaria.

That being said, there are also Croatian products available for purchase. For just six euros, four cans of one of Croatia’s most well known beers, Ožujsko, can be obtained. Šljivovica (plum brandy) can also be purchased, which is likely to be a hit with the Irish, but moreso for those Croats living and working on the emerald isle who are missing a taste (and a very strong taste, at that) of home.

All across Europe, Lidl has a week of ”Balkan” products, so get your hands on some Graševina and Plavac Mali while you can!
