The department of Ecology, Agronomy and Aquaculture at the University of Zadar and its partners for the project “Blue Education for Sustainable Management of Aquatic Resources – BLUE SMART” has passed EU co-financing from the European Maritime and Fisheries Fund (EMFF) in the competition: “Blue Careers in Europe”. The project leader is the University of Zadar (Department of Ecology, Agronomy and Aquaculture), with partners Cromaris dd, WWF Adria, and the Agency for Rural Development of Zadar County AGRRA. The project began with implementation on January 1, 2017 and will last until December 31, 2018, reports Poslovni.hr on January 26, 2017.
The aim of the project is to create new skills and knowledge in the field of the “blue economy” and increase the employability of current and future employees of the sector within Zadar County.
To achieve said goal, the first year of the project will develop the program and start a new graduate program titled ”Sustainable management of water ecosystems” at the University of Zadar.
The second year of the project will be made open with an online course in the breeding and processing of fish, as well as education exploring the good manufacturing practices in fisheries and aquaculture.
Through the project activities, conditions will be created for the training of new generations of students and professionals with the appropriate skills, and provide existing employees with new skills which correspond directly to the real needs within the fishing industry as one of the most important industries of Zadar County.
