In September 2016, accommodation facilities in Croatia recorded that tourist arrivals went up by 14.5%, while overnight stays increased by 11.5% in comparison to September 2015, reports the Central Bureau of Statistics on Tuesday.
Tourists have accomplished 9,666,033 overnight stays, of which 4.9% were by domestic tourists and 95.1% were by foreign tourists.
In September 2016, domestic tourist overnights increased by 6.0%, and foreign tourist overnights increased by 11.8%, when compared to September 2015. In the structure of foreign tourists, overnights were realized by tourists from Germany (32.4%), Austria (10.8%), the Czech Republic (6.7%), Poland (6.5%), Slovenia (6.1%), the United Kingdom (5.8%), Italy (3.8%) and Slovakia (2.5%), totaling to 74.6%. Tourists from other countries realized 25.4% of overnight stays.
In September 2016, most overnight stays were realized through rooms for rent, apartments, studio apartments and holiday homes (3,756,313 or 38.9%). In September 2016,318,526 rooms, apartments and camping sites were available with a total of 856,896 permanent beds. In September 2016, tourists had available a total of 78,981 rooms and suites with a total of 165,615 permanent beds. The average occupancy rate was 75.4% and 72.1% for fixeds bed.
Domestic tourists had most overnight stays in Zagreb, Krk, Šibenik, Mali Lošinj, Rovinj, Pula, Split, Zadar, Opatija, Dubrovnik and Biograd, amounting to 36.4% of total overnight stays for domestic tourists. Foreign tourists had most of their overnight stays in Dubrovnik, Rovinj, Poreč, Medulin, Umag, Mali Lošinj, Tar-Vabriga, Vrsar, Split and Pula, which is 32.5% of the total overnight stays by foreign tourists.
From January to September 2016, in comparison to the same period last year, commercial accommodation facilities in Croatia increased by 8.0% in arrivals, with 8.6% more overnight stays. Tourists realized 74,579,422 overnight stays. Of these, 6.9% were by domestic tourists and 93.1% were by foreign tourists. In the period from January to September 2016, compared to the same period of 2015, the number of domestic tourist overnights increased by 1.6%, while the number of foreign tourist overnights increased by 9.2%.
