Art Along the Coast: ‘Island and Sea’ Photo Exhibition in Zadar

Total Croatia News

In this art series, we have featured plenty of exhibitions whose central themes touched on topics such as life at sea, be it urban centres or coastal villages. We’ve seen natural wonders of the Adriatic coast, charming little boats and spirited local residents brought to life in various forms and techniques by the hands of many talented artists.

Starting from this week, the City Library in Zadar will house another lovely exhibition that’s about to unite all the facets of coastal life mentioned above. Kornat photo-club from Kukljica on Ugljan island is coming as a welcome guest to proudly present the 22nd international photo exhibition titled ‘Island and Sea’.

The judging panel received 254 works created by photographers from 13 countries. The jury decided to grant the award to Biljana Knebl, a member of Zagreb photo-club who’s been mastering her photography skills since she was a highschool student. Knebl built her career in multiple publishing houses where she worked as a graphic designer, book illustrator, and photographer who used her own works in some of the books and posters she designed. She participated in more than 20 exhibitions, with 290 of her photographs displayed in Croatia and abroad.

You can find more information about other awarded candidates in the exhibition catalogue here, in Croatian and English, and explore catalogues of previous editions of this wonderful photo contest here.

The exhibition opens in the City Library in Zadar on Thursday, September 28 at 18:oo.
