City of Pula keeps setting new records in 2017
According to a statement released by the City of Pula, by the end of August Pula recorded 317.700 tourist arrivals and generated 1.662.429 overnight stays, making for a significant 15% increase in arrivals and a 17% increase in overnight stays compared with last year.
German tourists still hold the first place in the total number of tourist arrivals, making for an increase of 32% compared with the same time period in 2016. Impressive growth was generated by other foreign markets, mainly by tourists coming from Poland (49% increase) and the Czech Republic (29%) as well, followed by Italy (13%) and Austria (10%).
Visitors from the UK generated approximately the same number of arrivals as in 2016, but keeping in mind that the massively popular Outlook festival is taking place in September this year, the British market is also expected to break some records in Pula in the coming month.
Guests who arrived to Pula in August generated an increase in overnight stays of 6%, proving Pula is definitely turning from a day-trip destination to one where visitors decide to stick around a while longer. The new trend is seen as a result of the steady expansion of the tourist offer, as it currently encompasses almost a thousand cultural and artistic events, festivals and concerts each year.
To compare, in 2016 Pula was visited by 353.000 guests who generated 1.8 million overnight stays. According to some predictions, 2017 might be the first year for Pula to break the record and exceed 2 million overnight stays. Congratulations!
