Croatia’s fastest growing tourist market is about to grow faster – direct flights from Seoul!

Croatian Minister of Maritime Affairs, Transport and Infrastructure Siniša Hajdaš Dončić and Korean Ambassador to Croatia Hyung-won Suh signed on Wednesday an agreement between the two governments on air transport, which provides for the establishment of regular direct flights between the two countries, reports Poslovni.hr on December 31, 2015.

The agreement should encourage the future increase in the number of tourists coming to Croatia from Korea. In recent years, the Republic of Korea has become a very dynamic tourism market with the highest number of tourists in Croatia outside the European continent. During the first ten months of this year, more than 300,000 Korean tourists arrived in Croatia, and it is expected that by the end of this year that number has reached 350,000.

Korean media and popular travel and tourism websites like The Chosun Ilbo present Croatia as a small Central European country with lovely beaches and picturesque Mediterranean towns. During the last few years, numerous Korean bloggers who write about travels and tourism have drawn attention of Korean tourists to the stunning Croatian scenery, beautiful nature and affordable prices.

“This agreement is the result of strong interest for further improvement in the exceptional bilateral relations and economic development between Croatia and the Republic of Korea, and establishes the international legal framework in the field of international civil air traffic between the two countries, providing for easier transport, tourist and cargo flows”, says the statement released by the Ministry of Maritime Affairs, Transport and Infrastructure. It is still not know when the first flights between Korea and Croatia will be started.
