While Volotea has significantly increased operations to Croatia in recent years, next summer, the Spanish low-cost carrier has made an even more significant leap forward with their new route from Athens to Dubrovnik.
Following the recent announcement that Volotea will operate from Lyon to Dubrovnik and Split, Marseille to Rijeka (marking the airline’s first route to Rijeka), and Bordeaux to Pula, the Spanish carrier has just announced their first route between Croatia and Greece, reports AvioRadar on November 22, 2018.
Namely, Volotea will operate between Dubrovnik and Athens twice a week, on Wednesdays and Saturdays. The new route will begin operations on April 27, 2019, though the end of the seasonal operations is not yet known as Volotea currently only sells tickets until the end of August 2019. Volotea will use a Boeing 717 aircraft for the route which can hold 125 passengers.
Volotea is not the only airline to operate this route, however, as they will be in direct competition with Croatia Airlines and Aegean Airlines who also operate flights between Dubrovnik and Athens and are both members of the Star Alliance Global Airlines Association.
In other news, Volotea will commence operations between Lyon and Split on April 14, 2019, which will run twice weekly, while Lyon to Dubrovnik will begin on April 17, 2019, and operate once per week. Flights between Marseille and Rijeka, and Bordeaux and Pula will be connected from June 5, 2019. Both lines will run once a week.
Volotea is even selling 100,000 seats starting from just 9 euro as part of their Black Friday sale. You can find Volotea’s summer schedule here.
