A fast ship line from Split to Rogač on Šolta and Milna on Brač is the first direct public transportation route between the two islands, reported Split-Dalmatia County Prefect Blaženko Boban on Wednesday.

“This line, to be co-financed by the County with a million kuna annually, is the first ship line connection between Šolta and Brač islands, with the fast ship with 253 seats extending its route from Rogač to Milna and back towards Split,” said Prefect Boban to journalists, Slobodna Dalmacija reported on January 10, 2018.

The shipping company is Krilo from Krilo Jesenice, while the line has been in operation since the beginning of this year.

Travel between Rogač on Šolta and Milna on Brač takes around 20 minutes and this route will be very important in the summer months when numerous tourists will be able hop from one to the other island and return on the same day.

The ship will sail from Split at 18:30 to Rogač and continue on to Milna. It will spend the night there and sail in the morning at 06:25 to Rogač and then to Split.

Prefect Boban also recalled the fact that Split-Dalmatia County has been co-financing a special fast ship line since last autumn with 1.1 million kuna annually, leaving Split at 18:25 for Šolta, in order for students attending school in Split to return to their island.
