Flights to Croatia: Germania Flug and FlyDubai Reduce Traffic to Zadar and Zagreb

April 24, 2019 – The latest news from around Croatia’s airports for new flights to Croatia with updates from Zadar and Zagreb airports.

AvioRadar reports that Swiss air carrier Germania Flug, which is the daughter company of the German airline Germania, ceased operations in February this year. While the Swiss charter will continue to operate, it has reduced traffic on selected routes. Germania Flug’s route between Zadar and Zurich will be affected.

Namely, the route between Zadar and Zurich will begin two weeks earlier than planned on this year’s summer flight schedule. However, this year, they will operate only one flight per week, which leaves on Saturday, and will no longer work on Wednesdays. This route will also be interrupted in the heart of the season, with no operations from July 20 to August 10, 2019.

Furthermore, AvioRadar reports that FlyDubai from the United Arab Emirates will operate the Zagreb-Dubai line instead of Emirates this winter, just as they did last winter. Namely, FlyDubai will replace Emirates for the entire winter flight schedule, and take over operations from October 27, 2019, to March 28, 2020. On this route, Emirates has a code-share deal on FlyDubai flights.

Furthermore, the number of weekly rotations has been reduced. Thus, after November 11, no flights will run on Tuesdays and Thursdays, while some weeks will have no flights on Mondays. The daily frequency returns around the Christmas and New Year holidays, i.e., from December 13, 2019, to January 13, 2020. The Boeing 737-800 will operate on all flights.

To conclude, Ex Yu Aviation reports that Croatia Airlines accounted for 50% of the travel between Croatia and Greece in 2018, handling 22,000 travelers thanks to its seasonal services. Croatia Airlines handled most passengers between Zagreb and Athens (10,700), followed by Dubrovnik and Athens (8,320), and 3,104 between Split and Athens. This summer, Croatia Airlines will operate six flights a week from Zagreb to Athens via Dubrovnik, with one trip per week from Split.
