Listen up, food lovers: the quaint old mill in Solin town is about to house a mouthwatering manifestation on Saturday, September 2!
Called From the Solin Pot, the food festival will introduce the visitors to traditional dishes of Solin. The Gašpina mill, built in the 18th century, just about provides a perfect venue for a manifestation dedicated to culture and gastronomy, one that won the’Simply the best’ award for innovation in the tourism sector in 2014, and the so-called Blue Flower (Plavi cvijet) award given out by the Croatian National Tourist Board for the best product in tourism.
The festival aims to promote the rich cultural and historical heritage of Solin through a versatile palette of gastronomic delicacies the town is known for. The Solinjani association, members of the Cultural Artistic Society Salona and Gašpić restaurant from Solin will be preparing delicious meals for the visitors to taste – free of charge!
Things will get pretty lively on the entertainment front as well, with an array of attractive performances ranging from a traditional music programme to a couple of local bands taking the stage later in the evening. Starting from 19:00, the Salona Society and Klapa Tamarin from Vranjic will perform in front of the old mill, followed by the gourmet programme and a concert by the Galaxy band.
The entrance to the festival is free, and the organisers also took care of aranging free transportation by bus from Split – on 18:30, departing in front of the Jadrolinija office across the Tourist Palace.
If you’re planning on going, make sure to check the forecast, as the event might get cancelled in case of rain. Otherwise, you’re all set; board the bus and head to Solin to join other foodies at the lovely gastro festival and enjoy the menu – just like your grandma used to make!
