“We had to get to know the land of our football heroes.”
The Public Relations department of Vir announced a rather unique visit by an Indian family who chose to holiday on the island motivated by Croatia’s football stars, reports Lokalni.Vecernji.hr on October 9, 2018.
“Fans of Vir island have come from various continents, and now we have received greetings from an Indian family who loves Croatia,” said Vir’s PR team.
“Mohammed Zubair was so delighted by the Croatia football team at the World Cup in Russia that he had to come and experience the land of Luka Modrić, Mario Mandžukić, Danijel Subašić and the other ‘Vatreni’ – and where would they visit if not the island of Vir?” they added.
“We are enjoying the beautiful island and ambiance of Vir,” said Mohammed, who ended up choosing Vir after searching for the most beautiful destination in Croatia on the internet.
Mohammed’s wife also enjoys the island that, with her sense of security and comfort, fulfilled all expectations. Mohammed, on the other hand, as a professional footballer of PFC from South Indian Chennai (formerly known as Madras), was most interested in the fact that Modrić’s birthplace is only 30 kilometers away from the island, and that his first football coach, Tomislav Bašić, was born on Vir,” added Vir’s PR team.
“We are big fans of the Croatia football team. We were delighted with Croatia’s games at the World Cup and we just had to get to know the land of our football heroes,” Mohammed concluded.
