More than 223 000 overnight stays expected, most in hotels
According to the information shared on official websites and Twitter accounts of the Ministry of Tourism and Croatian Government on December 24, 2015, more than 83 000 tourists will spend their Christmas and New Years holidays in Croatia and it is expected they will record a total of 223 000 overnight stays, When we compare those numbers to last year’s we can see an increase of 8% in arrivals and 7,5% in overnight stays.
According to announcements and bookings, Primorje – Gorski Kotar County is leading the way with 58 000 overnights, Istria is expecting another 56 000 while Zagreb is expected to have just over 40 000 overnights and most of the guests will be staying in hotels.
Director of the National Tourist Board Ratomir Ivičić is happy with the expected numbers: “We are heading towards the end of an extremely successful year for Croatian tourism. Encouraged by these fantastic numbers we are entering 2016, a year in which we will have to repeat record numbers and ensure continued growth. It will not be an easy task, but I am sure tourism workers in croatia will do a brilliant job, just like they aalways do” – Ivičić commented.
