Mountain Rescue Asks Tourists not to Hunt Pokemon on Biokovo and Velebit Mountains

The Croatian Mountain Rescue Service (HGSS) published on its Twitter profile a request asking tourists visiting mountains on the Adriatic coast, especially Velebit and Biokovo, not to hunt Pokemon on them!

After plenty of experience of tourists climbing mountains in flip-flops, without hats, sunscreen and water, the HGSS have either faced the new phenomenon – Pokemon hunt – or have decided on preventive action, Tportal.hr reported on July 14, 2016.

In any case, the warning is to be commended.

The Pokemon GO game, available for Android and iOS devices, works in an expanded environment, meaning by using your camera on your smartphone you can see these imaginary beings in the real world.

By using GPS on your device, Pokemon GO creates a map in the game that is based on a location in the real world. Those who decide to hunt Pokemon will need to get up and walk to find them. Some obviously search for them in the mountains…
