The first phase of the new terminal at Dubrovnik Airport will open on February 6, 2017.

Croatia is in the midst of a air traffic boom, with a record 8 million plus passengers in 2016, a number which looks set to be exceeded in 2017.

Some of the country’s key airports have been struggling to cope, and major terminal expansions are underway in Dubrovnik, Zagreb and Split, which – once completed – will significantly enhance the airport capacity of these destinations.

Work on Split has only just begun, while Zagreb’s fancy new terminal is set to open next month, but it is Dubrovnik which will be the first to open its doors, from tomorrow, as announced on the Dubrovnik Airport website:

“New passenger terminal stars operating on Monday, February 6th. First phase means completely closing terminal A and moving check in counters and security checkpoints. We expect moving will be completely finished by summer season 2017.

“We are looking forward to starts working at new passenger terminal which will improve services for our passengers.”

It should be noted that work is ongoing on the left hand section of the new terminal – the two pictures above from yesterday, as TCN flew from Dubrovnik to Zagreb – but even the partial opening of the new terminal is great news, and all should be fully operational for what promises to be another bumper season on the Pearl of the Adriatic.
