ZAGREB, June 15, 2020 – Croatian airports in April this year handled only 4,482 passengers, which is a 99.4% drop compared to the same period of 2019 and a result of flight cancellations and airport closures caused by the COVID-19 outbreak, data from the national statistical office (DZS) show.
There were only 420 flight operations in April, a drop of 95.4% compared to April 2019.
A total of 797 tonnes of cargo were handled, 27% less than in April 2019.
Zagreb Airport recorded the most passengers, 4,478, a 98.4% drop from the same month of last year.
The other four passengers were recorded at Brac and Osijek airports while the other airports in the country did not report any passengers.
The most numerous passengers recorded in April were from Germany and the UK.
