July 18, 2018 — A slick new promotional video gives Eastern Croatia the attention it deserves.
Ah yes, the tourism potential of Eastern Croatia. So apparent, yet so absent. It remains one of the bigger mysteries in a nation happy to showcase its natural beauty.
Well, Osijek-Baranja County’s Tourist Board addressed the problem. It revealed a new four-minute video showcasing the region’s many wonders. The promotional clip, titled “The Art of Travel,” is available in Croatian, English, and German.
It promises “the most beautiful adventure of a lifetime”, with Hollywood-esque voice-over, intense close-ups, and sweeping landscape shots. (Take a look yourself below).
The English-language narration inevitably morphs into a barrage of meme-worthy inspirational jargon. But it’s a good yeoman’s start for a region at the moment stuck between “Huh?” and “Nowhere” on Croatia’s tourism map.
The will and desire to kickstart Eastern Croatia’s tourism exists. There’s interest from potential visitors. Yet a dwindling local population and dilapidated economy slows progress.
Some efforts worked in the past. A video like this? It won’t solve anything. But it’s a start.
