September is showing no signs of slowing down at Pula Airport.

After a record June, July and August, in which Pula Airport recorded more than 100,000 passengers in three consecutive months for the first time, as well as a record number of flight operations, September continues with an impressive number of arrivals, reports HRTurizam September 12, 2018.

Namely, on September 12, 2018, Pula Airport recorded 600,000 passengers, which they have not seen since Croatia’s independence. Last year’s 500,000 passenger figure was recorded at the beginning of August.

This summer, Pula was connected by direct flights from 20 countries, with 76 destinations with direct flights, in cooperation with 42 companies.

“Last year we recorded 595,495 passengers, while this year we expect to exceed 700,000 passengers and we hope to surpass the number of passengers from 1987 when 701,370 passengers traveled through our airport. Until now, the total turnover from January to August has increased by 20% compared to last year, although our forecasts were a 15% increase in passenger numbers,” says Director of Pula Airport, Svemir Radmilo.

It is extremely important that flights with 17 companies for 22 destinations can still be reached by the end of September when the active lines are to Belgrade, Zurich and London Heathrow, and by the end of October, Pula Airport has open lines for another 20 destinations, which are London, Oslo, Nantes, Frankfurt, Dublin, Rotterdam, Edinburgh, Moscow, Leeds Bradford, Manchester, Warsaw, Dusseldorf, Cologne, Berlin, Brussels, Hamburg, Stuttgart, Bristol, and Helsinki.

“It should be noted again that the reason for these figures lies in the fact of the synergy of all the tourism stakeholders in Istria. This is primarily the Tourist Board of Istria County, then the hotel industry with its investments in new hotel facilities, and the art of negotiating and meeting all the carriers of Istria’s beauty and making it possible for a beautiful and attractive vacation to all destinations within the Airport. Our job is to join forces with Europe, bring Europe closer to Istria, but also show Istria in Europe because we have something to be proud of,” Radmilo concluded.
