Want to check out donkeys, sheep and ponies while exploring Split’s famous hill?

The Split Zoo on Marjan has opened their doors once again! Three years after they decided to close and continue to be inhabited by indigenous species, visitors can now see donkeys, sheep and ponies as part of the Marjan educational center. The offer at Marjan has thus been enriched even further, and in addition to the Zoo, there is also a unique donkey path, announces HRT on September 12, 2018.

For starters, the Zoo is conceived as an educational center with content intended for children and people with special needs, as well as for volunteers who want to help develop this project.

“Every day from 11am to 2pm, citizens can volunteer in the educational center and can work with the animals, meaning they can adopt a single donkey,” said Hrvaje Cokarić, project manager of the Marjan Donkey Trail.

Split also received a new tourist offer – the unique Marjan Donkey Trail. The trail is envisaged as a four-hour walk for tourists, where they can find information about the donkeys, but also about Marjan, adds Cokarić.

This trail is a 7 km tourist tour, which goes from Varoš, through Vidilica, and Marjan Road to the Zoo Gardens.
