According to a survey commissioned by the Boating and Watersports Holiday Show (part of the London Boat Show currently taking place), this weekend, 13th January 2018, is set to be the busiest day for Brits booking summer holidays!

January 12th, 2018, it is about now that everyone is starting to come down or begin the recovery process after a long holiday season, no doubt filled with WAY too much eating and drinking. Don’t beat yourselves up, we all do it and I doubt many of us started our New Year’s Resolutions on January 1st – I for one, did not. But now, into the second week of January, I am excited about the year ahead and ready to start setting some goals.

So too it seems, are many Brits. According to the survey conducted by the Boating and Watersports Holiday Show (part of the London Boat Show); around 1 in 6 Brits revealed that they would be booking their summer holiday in the first two weeks of January which is very likely the reason the London Boat Show takes place this weekend.

While many Brits are opting for a ‘staycation’ and staying close to the UK (around 30% – 16 million people), 46% say they will travel to European hotspots: Spain, Greece, Croatia and Portugal. Looking at it a little closer, being by the water was one of the most alluring aspects of going on holiday (34%) followed by relaxing (67%), spending time with family and friends (41%), food (38%) and exploring new sights and different cultures (37%). (Info was taken from London Boat Show and survey)

With miles of beautiful coastline, more than a thousand islands, gorgeous turquoise waters, history, culture, adventure and fresh Mediterranean cuisine; a sailing holiday in Croatia should easily be at the top of everyone’s list.

There is a reason international guests return year after year to sail in Croatia and after working on charter yachts in Dalmatia, I can guarantee that a sailing holiday in Croatia will be some of your best memories. Week after week, I had guests from all walks of life tell me that it was hands-down their best holiday ever and I saw families truly bond and create unforgettable memories.

With so many different yachts and charter companies online, it can be difficult to navigate but there are many trusted companies and agents, for example, Croatia Yachting recently won the ‘Best Charter Company in Croatia for 2017’ and we wanted to share more inside info with you, so we interviewed the founders of Acantho – Croatia Charter Holidays. If you are after something a little more exhilarating, how about chartering a yacht for a regatta? Last year, we attended the Adriatic Lagoon Regatta which was a phenomenal experience, filled with sailing, comradery and gastronomy, check out the video below for a ‘taste’ of the action.
