Zagreb Airport targets three million passengers this year, EX-YU Aviation reported on May 2, 2017.

The airport’s Executive Director for Ground Handling Services, Ivana Akmadžić, said that the airport expects new passengers over summer, but during next winter as well. Zagreb Airport’s General Manager, Jacques Feron, added that the aim is to handle more passengers in the coming period, up to five million and then up to eight million in the next development phase.

In addition to new arrivals, such as Monarch UK, the only airline connecting Gatwick and Manchester to Zagreb, some of the existing clients, such as Korean Air will resume their seasonal charters.

Mr. Feron said that Iberia flights between Zagreb and Madrid will double and there will be a 70% increase in operations and capacity from Prague and Warsaw, noting that Croatia Airlines holds a 55% passenger share at the airport.

Zagreb Airport handled a record 2.766.087 passengers in 2016, and during the first quarter of this year, it welcomed 516.000 travellers, an increase of 1.3%.
