Vollo, the online search service that compares and purchases bus tickets, has been awarded the City of Zagreb award at the Zagreb Connect startup conference.
HRTurizam reports that the City of Zagreb award at the Zagreb Connect conference awarded startups based in Zagreb, with the Vollo team named winner. The team was given 5,000 euros and a year of incubation at Technology Park Zagreb.
“We are pleased that our work has been recognized and rewarded. The money and space will be used for further development of the application, thus increasing the number of users, which is our greatest reward at the end,” said Marko Jukić, founder and CEO at Vollo.
Being awarded by the City of Zagreb has even more perks as the Vollo team has also won a trip to Tel Aviv, in which team members will meet and network with the lively Israeli startup scene.
“The Israeli startup scene is really impressive, especially taking into account their overall talent for business. We are happy and proud to have been selected to present Croatian startups in Israel and meet with the Israeli startup system and more investors and exchange experiences in Tel Aviv,” Jukić said about the planned visit to Tel Aviv.
In the past three months, the Croatian service to purchase bus tickets online was named best Croatian startup in an early stage of the CESA (Central European Startup Awards) competition, was nominated among the top 100 startups in Central, Eastern, and Southern Europe in the Startup Challenge Istanbul, and entered the top 13 startups to pitch at the Catch challenge in Belgrade. Vollo has also received investment through the pre-accelerated program StartUp Factory Zagreb, along with mentoring and consultancy support and the right to use a quarterly office space.
Vollo is an online search service which compares and allows you to purchase bus tickets for domestic and international lines. On Vollo, the search engine contains over 70,000 lines and 2.2 million combinations of bus travel in 20 European countries.
