The event was held on the 20th and the 30th of April, and on the 1st of May the traditional climb to mount St. Ilija over Orebić will be organized.

The weekend before the 1st of May is when many tourists and visitors are expected to arrive to Pelješac, and many winemakers opened their cellar doors and welcomed the fans of Plavac Mali to the cellars for tasting and introduction to the world of winemaking on Pelješac. 20 wineries from Ston to Orebić on Pelješac decided to participate in the event and welcome visitors during this weekend.

The weather has not been too kind to the organizers, so the event that was supposed to happen on Saturday in Drače, where oysters were supposed to be offered to the visitors was cancelled because of the heavy rain. Instead, Pelješki vrhovi PZ Janjina, Drače and Grgurević wineries in Drače and Bezek winery in Janjini or newly-opened Edivo winebar in Drače were the locations where the party continued.

On Sunday the Home of the Winemaking Tradition was opened in Putnikovići, a permanent exhibition of the items used in the past by the winemakers in the region, located in the PZ Putnikovići. County Prefect Nikola Dobroslavić was there for the opening, where he stressed that the people of Dubrovnik-Neretva County can and should be proud of the winemaking tradition of their region, as well as they can be proud of the wines made there today. It certainly seems like a very interesting new attraction for the wine-lovers who decide to explore Pelješac, as it is extremely interesting to see how the wines were made in the past, especially in a region that is so demanding for the grape production.

For the opening, a lot of Plavac Mali wines and grilled pilchard was offered, and later in the day in PZ Postup a competition in making one of the Croatia’s favourite dishes, wine stew, a meal often served at parties after midnight, a dish that helps you drink more (and you need that on Pelješac). There was also roast lamb from Antunović Family Farm…
