September the 6th, 2023 – Of all the locations across Croatia, it’s perhaps Krapina-Zagorje that gets little of the limelight. In spite of that, many Zagorje projects have been realised for the betterment of the county – totalling 154 million euros.
As Poslovni Dnevnik writes, Minister Branko Bačić, said on Monday while paying a visit to Krapina that 152 projects worth 154 million euros had now been realised from the Solidarity Fund across Krapina-Zagorje County. He also announced that there would be help offered related to landslides due to rain and damage to public infrastructure.
Landslides have posed significant problems
Minister of Spatial Planning, Construction and State Property Branko Bačić arrived in Krapina at the invitation of Mayor Zoran Gregurović, who informed him about the problems caused by the recent heavy rainfall. That weather event caused yet more landslides and significant damage to public infrastructure, ungraded roads and houses.
The President of the Committee for the Economy of the Croatian Parliament Žarko Tušek (HDZ) was also present. “I got the mayor and the member of parliament better acquainted with the programme that our Ministry has prepared and which will be submitted for public consultation. It includes assistance in providing housing for people whose facilities, primarily residential ones, are being threatened or are already damaged as a result of the landslides themselves,” he said, emphasising that he remains confident that he will bring this programme to the fore in the next few months.
He also said that in the next year, and perhaps this year if luck is on our side, they will start with activities related to housing for people who currently live in homes threatened by landslides.
They also discussed the problems being faced by those whose buildings were damaged back during the earthquakes and who are temporarily located in container settlements or containers next to their houses. Bačić reminded those present that the Ministry is working to solve the problems faced by such people through the Housing Care Programme.
He added that two contractors have now been selected in Krapina-Zagorje County to build mobile high-energy houses for the needs of those individuals as part of this series of Zagorje projects.
