While much of Croatia’s tourism may be based on the coast and its idyllic islands, the region of Zagora, or inland Dalmatia, has made great strides in recent years to attract more adventurous tourists away from the beach. With world-famous cultural events such as the Sinj Alka, and astonishing natural phenomena such as the Blue and Red Caves at Imotski, not to mention Game of Thrones sets at Klis Fortress, it is almost surprising that the region has been off the tourist radar for so long.
The region is also a paradise for adventure tourism, with its rich natural treasures for hikers, cyclists, climbers and adrenaline water sport enthusiasts. One key part of Zagora’s beauty and sporting appeal is Lake Peruca, close to Vrlika, a divine spot for those seeking to escape the crowds, but also an important sporting location for kayaking and rowing.
