Photo of the Day: Stones Never Forget

The Matić meadow in the Gorski Kotar mountain region is a memorial site for partisan fighters who froze in a night march in February of 1944. The memorial is made up of 26 monolithic stones representing the number of fallen soldiers, created by architect Zdenko Sila. Since 1962 the Memorial of Peace has been held here.
