October 12, 2024 – A beautiful gesture was made by Scottish football fan charity “Tartan Army Sunshine Appeal” before the Croatia and Scotland UEFA Nations League match in Zagreb tonight.
The Scottish football fans charity, the Tartan Army Sunshine Appeal, is a small group of Scotland fans who donate to help children in need everywhere the Scotland national football team plays a match.
Since 2003, they have made over 100 consecutive donations to help children in need across the world, and today, they made their 103rd in Zagreb.
Namely, the Tartan Army Sunshine Appeal donated £5,000 to Udruga Sjena in Zagreb, an organization established to help and support children with disabilities and their parents by providing meaningful mental health and emotional support, education on establishing children’s rights within the Croatian Health Services, as well as actual physical help by providing educational workshops on empowering children to be more self-sufficient and independent of care when possible.
The official presentation was held this afternoon at Beertija in Zagreb, with around 50 Scotland fans in attendance. A special guest was the British Ambassador to Croatia, Simon Thomas, as well as the beautiful sound of bagpipes played live by one of the charity members.
A wonderful initiative by the Scotland fans, showing that a little good goes a long way.
