What smells leathery and fungal, but with a soft taste reminiscent of sour cherry?

The riddle is solved by the Bolfan winery, growing Pinot Noir on Vinski Vrh among fairies and elves. The grapes from the 2015 harvest gave a wine of ripe fruit and wine aromas, refreshing without a pronounced acidity.

For some time now Zagorje winemakers, led in affirmation by Bolfan, have been shattering prejudices of Zagorje bitter wines. Acidity is the backbone of any wine, but in this Pinot it is integrated and spread out and luckily, not overly milky as the softness on the palate suggests…

Indeed, even at room temperature it is not boring, when tannin turns into velvet sensed only as silk under your fingers. Silk of bright red colour.

Chilled, this wine is more than decent company to many meals. Does not seem so much as a spice but more as an unobtrusive companion, unpretentious sip of something real.
