Just for the record… because, as far as I know, this vintage is also already sold-out. The 2011 merlot was exceptional, but the 2012 vintage also deserves a recommendation, although you can’t really buy it, at least not locally in retail stores. But, just for the record 🙂
The trouble is that this is the wine that can develop in a bottle in a way we expect proper wines to. I can only hope that certain quantities of 2011 and 2012 Merlots by Krauthaker are going to be kept in the private cellars of my compatriots. Because, the best stuff is getting sold around the world more and more.
A first, it’s a bit problematic because you can taste the wood a bit too much in the wine. It literally leaves the taste of sawdust in your mouth, which made me think that it’s not the same wine I tasted before. However, you can taste the clear indications of the excellent material. Leaving the wine in the bottle until tomorrow proved to be a good decision.
A whole different story tomorrow! The magic of Merlot pours out of the bottle. Solid grip, acids in the backbone – where they should be, and meaty and juicy shine of aromas on the palate. Fruit and soil. No, red fruit and mineral 😉
