Once Forbidden Rose Stagnum is the Most Original Croatian Rose

Six or seven years ago Frano Miloš decided to produce a rose. He was quite pleased with the results so he named it R Stagnum, after his cult wine. However, the Zagreb Winemaking Institute, which never liked the leading Pelješac winemaker, forbid the sale of Stagnum claiming it does not satisfy minimal quality criteria (although it passed the chemical analysis of wine). This shameful attempt to sabotage one of the most valued domestic wine producers provoked a strong revolt of the public, so R Stagnum, once it was released on the market, could boast a very good reputation among professionals, but also a wider audience. These days we tasted the rose Stagnum from 2016.

Its bouquet is full of pure red fruits, but also baked plums and brush. This is a wine which right away presents its grapes, Plavac Mali, and whose aromas associate of red wine. On the other hand, R Stagnum is fresh enough and fruity sweet, to be enjoyed in heat, while structurally it is optimally strong to function with food. R Stagnum is certainly the most original domestic rose, whose strong colour and intoxicating bouquet also breaks all style rules of modern rose wines. In this case breaking the rules was more than justified.

We recommend it with superior prosciutto with cantaloupe or figs, lighter meat from the grill, but also white fish. Of course, it is excellent when consumed alone.
