Mojo wine bar, rakia & co is a wine bar in downtown Zagreb, at the beginning of Martićeva street, located one tram station (that would be 3 minutes or so walk) from the main square, with the nice terrace overlooking some of the older fountains in Zagreb. Martićeva Street is sometimes described as the most hipster street in Zagreb, with a very popular bookstore, one of the greatest cake places in Zagreb and while that label of the “hipsterest” street might not be perceived as a compliment, it does give you an idea of what you might expect in Mojo wine bar.

It is as far away as possible from the stuck up reputation wine bars used to have in Zagreb (although there’s a lot of them open nowadays that do not live up to that reputation). This is the bar where the wine offered is affordable, the selection of rakijas is huge and the atmosphere is always great, relaxed and feel-good. The wine list consists of over 150 labels, and most of those wines are available by the glass. The wines offered are mostly Croatian, with most major producers represented on the wine list, including Kutjevo d.d., Tomić vina from Hvar, Zdjelarević Selection, Kalazić, Degrassi etc.

In addition, there’s around 60 types of rakija offered – and in case you don’t know that, rakija is a hard liquor, distilled mostly from plums or grapes (other fruit, such as apricots or pears is rarely used) and then a lot of flavours can be added: various herbs, honey, other fruit (such as carob, walnuts, sour cherry are quite popular). So, now you can imagine how it’s possible to have 60 types of rakija in a bar, and Mojo wine and rakija bar offers you the option to purchase most of those rakijas they serve.

No food is offered regularly in the bar, expect on the nights when special events are held, so you might wanna go for a burger or a pizza before you enter Mojo bar. And there, in the underground, with brick walls and black-and-white pictures, in a mellow and calming atmosphere you can enjoy live music nights, featuring klapas (traditional Dalmatian a cappella bands), rock cover bands, jazz bands and DJs on the weekends.
