Plenković, Dubrovnik-Neretva County officials discuss preparations for tourist season

After a working meeting with Dubrovnik-Neretva County Prefect Nikola Dobroslavić and Dubrovnik Mayor Mato Franković, Plenković said that he was satisfied that the issue of interest-free loans for the county and several local government units had been resolved since the last meeting.

“This has made it easier to function and has shown that this is a very good cooperation. Despite major headway made in the previous tourist season, this county was still in a specific position,” said Plenković.

They also talked about preparations for the next tourist season, and he reiterated that the Pelješac Bridge would be open to traffic by then.

The prime minister said the south of Croatia would be connected even better and become a car destination like the rest of the country, without queues at border crossings.

“We talked about projects for better connectivity of islands, cross-border cooperation and strengthening education infrastructure, primarily through the funds from the National Recovery and Resilience Plan,” Plenković said.

Dobroslavić: We expect continuation of transport connectivity improvements

Dubrovnik-Neretva County Prefect Nikola Dobroslavić said that he expected the continuation of transport connectivity improvements in the south of Croatia, with an expressway from Dubrovnik airport to Osojnik near Dubrovnik, a motorway from Osojnik to Metković junction and the continuation of the expressway from Brijesta to Perna on Pelješac with the Orebić bypass route.

Dobroslavić stressed the dissatisfaction that Bosnia and Herzegovina’s Republika Srpska entity continued implementing the hydro power plant project “Gornji Horizonti” without resolving the matter with the Republic of Croatia.

“There is a great danger from this project to the rivers Neretva and Ombla and Mali Ston Bay. We have also mentioned the project of the airport in Trebinje (Herzegovina), which can due to its proximity also endanger the watercourses in the county. We have received an assurance from the government that they will insist on resolving these issues,” the prefect said.

Dubrovnik Mayor Mato Franković said that the infrastructure projects of the Lapad Coast and the Dubrovnik agglomeration were being successfully implemented.
