June 11, 2023 -The 22nd Zagreb Pride, a pride parade of the LGBTIQ+ community under the slogan “Together for trans rights”, took place in Zagreb yesterday. Zagreb Mayor Tomislav Tomašević and his deputies Danijel Dolenec and Luka Korlaet participated in the procession, reports Zagreb.hr.
“We dedicate Zagreb Pride this year above all to trans people, so we want to support them as well. We want the entire LGBT community and all LGBT people to feel welcome in Zagreb, to feel equal, not to feel discriminated against on any basis. it is very important to us and we will continue to work on it”, said Mayor Tomašević.
He added that it is encouraging that so many young people participate in the Parade. “We constantly see a bunch of young people here and there have been no incidents for many years. I think that in the end, Zagreb can be proud in this sense as a city that truly accepts all differences and where everyone can feel welcome and comfortable”, said the mayor.
Zagreb Pride has been a fixture since 2002 with the aim of fighting for openness and acceptance of diversity in the organization of the “Zagreb Pride” Association, which for the past two decades has been fighting for a society of equality, acceptance and equality of all sexual and gender identities and all forms of family.
The procession started in front of the Mimar Museum and passed through Frankopanska, Ilica, Trg ban Jelačića, Jurišićeva and Drašković, and ends at Ribnjak, where a peaceful protest with appropriate speeches took place at 6 p.m., followed by an entertainment program.
