June 21, 2023 – Distance equipment for specialist cardiology services has been installed at five locations in Zadar County. The Telecordis project has been presented in Zadar.
“The medical and computer equipment, including an ECG Holter, pressure Holter, spirometry equipment and 12-channel ECG services has been installed in the branches of health centers in Benkovac, Biograd na Moru, Obrovac, Starigrad and Žman on Dugi otok,” said the director of the Croatian Institute for Emergency Medicine Maja Grba Bujević at the presentation.
Telecordis, a project of the Croatian Institute for Emergency Medicine, is worth around five million and 200 thousand kuna, writes Poslovni. Special medical equipment has been installed in 40 rural and remote island areas of health centers in the Republic of Croatia and in four specialist telemedicine centers where diagnostic services will be read remotely.
The Telecordis Process
“The patient can now come to the outpatient clinic, undergo an examination, and the findings will be telemedically sent to the hospital for reading. So, no more going back and forth between the hospital and the doctor for several days. What’s more, this service can be used by everyone who has a referral from their family medicine doctor. They must also be a beneficiary of the HZZO health insurance”, explained Grba Bujević.
If they see that the wait for the service is more than ten days, she pointed out, they will add new devices. The aim is for the waiting list to be as short as possible.
She noted that cardiovascular diseases are the leading cause of death in the world. In Croatia they account for 45 percent of all causes of death, and the population over 65 is the most affected.
Dražen Zekanović, head of the Department of Cardiology at Zadar General Hospital, said that he expects a lot from the Telecordis project.
“A telemedicine program has been launched that will enable us, the citizens of this county, as well as our numerous guests, to send information from distant places about how their heart is working, properly or improperly, and what their findings are. In any case, I must say that the program is brilliantly conceived and I hope that its realization will be like that as well, he said.
After the installation of the equipment, the staff in the clinics underwent training. That made it possible to provide the local population with advanced cardiology medical services.
