August the 1st, 2023 – Gorski Kotar tourism has been becoming more and more popular for visitors from elsewhere in Croatia and for guests from abroad.

As Poslovni Dnevnik writes, Gorski Kotar tourism is becoming increasingly attractive for tourists every year. This gorgeous part of the country has seen a steady increase in the number of visitors, and it has been experiencing these trends since the beginning of 2023. In addition to tourists from elsewhere across the country, foreign guests are also increasingly recognising the stunning beauty of this rugged, green area, writes HRT.

Gorski Kotar has turned into a destination that is loved by locals and foreigners alike, so the constant growth of accommodation capacities is not surprising. It isn’t just any old accommodation, however, and more and more of the higher category is on offer. “We’re now slowly approaching September, and this trend has positively surprised us. Another interesting change is visible, and that is that number of overnight stays has increased. Instead of being here for just two or three days, guests are now staying for ten or fifteen days, which is very positive,” said private landlord Ena Vlahović.

“The advantage is that we stay there, and we can see both the sea,Gorski Kotar and the forests and lakes and rivers. We’re here for the first time, but we will definitely be coming back again”, said Tena from Đurđevac.

When it comes to the entire picture of Gorski Kotar tourism, the local gastronomy doesn’t leave anyone indifferent either. “We escaped from Pula, as it’s way too hot there, to beautiful Gorski Kotar where it’s much cooler, everything is green, it’s all a little different. The food is great as well, so we’re very satisfied,” said Sabina, visiting from Pula.

Gorski Kotar tourism, having proved itself in numbers, now awaits further investments to continue pushing it in this positive direction. Under the auspices of the National Recovery and Resilience Plan, sport and tourism projects worth around 20 million euros have already been been reported for the region.
