October the 3rd, 2023 – The brand new Zagreb MET Boutique Hotel has opened its doors right here in the heart of the Croatian capital.
As Poslovni Dnevnik writes, the brand new five-star MET Boutique Hotel in the centre of the city has opened. It boasts 26 rooms, a spa, a conference hall, a roof terrace and other facilities. It was officially opened on Monday evening, and the ceremony was attended by the Minister of Tourism and Sport, Nikolina Brnjac.
This hotel which is brimming with attractive modern architecture and spans five floors with a facade and entrance in glass was jointly opened by Minister Nikolina Brnjac, its owner and investor Ahmet Ulaj (who is also the owner of the company Gener 2 which is behind the investment) and the Deputy Mayor of Zagreb, Luka Korlaet.
The true investment figure hasn’t yet been revealed
Ulaj is otherwise an Albanian entrepreneur who has been operating in the Republic of Croatia for several years now. He started his hotel business back in 2017, and when asked precisely how much the investment in the hotel was, he replied that “It’s difficult to say because the financial structure hasn’t yet been completed and there are still works being carried out on location.”
The new Zagreb MET Boutique Hotel is located in Praška Ulica (Street), in the immediate vicinity of Ban Jelačić Square.
“We’re glad that we’ve managed to successfully “revive” a space in the core of the city that hadn’t been functional. The hotel is small, but of great symbolism for the region, as it indicates the friendship and cooperation between Croatia and Albania. We believe that the hotel is also of great value to Zagreb,” Ulaj pointed out, expressing his respect for the Albanian community living in Croatia, whose representatives were also present at the opening.
Brnjac: Since 2017, 6.2 billion euros have been invested in quality tourism in Croatia
Tourism Minister Nikolina Brnjac said that the goal of the Croatian Government is the continued development and investment in quality facilities and content, and that this hotel is also a contribution to that. She added that in recent years, the number of hotels and camps built across Croatia has doubled from four to five star.
“Since back in 2017, 6.2 billion euros have been invested in quality in tourism in Croatia. We’re continuing with this through investments from NPOO funds and with the use of funds from other sources”, stressed Brnjac.
Deputy Mayor Luka Korlaet expressed his satisfaction with the new Zagreb MET Boutique hotel on behalf of the city administration, saying that “this new hotel contributes to the urban renewal of the city because something that was neglected and inaccessible has now been re-activated and with the use of top-tier architecture.”
“As the chairman of the Tourist Council of the City of Zagreb, I can say that this hotel has greatly enriched the offer of the city,” said Korlaet.
A little tribute to the great mind of Slavoljub Penkala
Hotel director Kristijan Bisaku told Hina that the hotel currently has 25 employees, as well as the interesting fact that the bar in the hotel is called PEN 22 because Slavoljub Penkala’s first workshop was at that location back in 1922.
In addition to Minister Nikolina Brnjac, Minister of Finance Marko Primorac, MP for Minorities Ermina Lekaj Prljaskaj and other guests were also present at the opening.
