Croatia is the Water Polo World Champion!

February 17, 2024 – Croatia is the water polo world champion!

Croatia and Italy met in the World Championship final in Doha on Saturday. The game ended 11-11 and went into a penalty shootout, which Croatia won 15-13!

This was Croatia’s 12th final in major competitions. So far, they appeared in the Olympic final three times, the European Championship final five times, and the World Championship final three times.

The Barracudas won the world gold for the first time in 2007 in Melbourne, and then in 2017 in Budapest, while they won silver in Kazan in 2015.

Croatia and Italy had met five times in the World Championships before this match. Both national teams recorded two wins and two losses with one draw.
