July the 1st, 2024 – Most of us who are already getting sick of the heat (and it’s only just July!) will be happy to know a strong Croatian weather shift is on its way for this afternoon.
As Index vijesti/news writes, this heat has been relentless and exhausting, but much anticipated refreshment will arrive later today with shower as a rather dramatic Croatian weather shift occurs. There will also be a possibility of thunderstorms with strong wind and hail.
It will thankfully be even fresher on Tuesday, according to a report from HRT in its forecast for the following days. From Wednesday on, it will once again turn back to being increasingly sunny and mostly dry, with rare light showers in the afternoon. The probability of rainfall has increased, along with the increase in daily temperature.
On the Adriatic coast, in the second part of the week it will be mostly sunny with a light wind blowing in from the sea, but it will still remain very hot.
This is an abbreviated forecast for the days ahead as a Croatian weather shift looms as the cold front is making its way too and then across Croatia later today. The influx of colder and moist air onto a heated surface is usually a good recipe for plenty of instability in the atmosphere.

In the eastern part of the country, it will be sunny and warm today in the morning, and extremely hot in the middle of the day with a temperature above 30 degrees. Later on in the afternoon, first in Podravina, with a stronger development of clouds, pronounced showers with thunder are possible. They will bring transient very strong gusts of northwesterly wind. Towards the night, those showers will spread elsewhere across the country.
The highest probability of thunderstorms tomorrow afternoon will be in central Croatia, after another warm morning. A moderate south-westerly and westerly wind will later replace the northerly wind, which, with instabilities, especially in the north, could even become stormy at times. There will be mostly sunny in the west until the middle of the day with a moderate south-westerly wind. In the afternoon hours, the Croatian weather shift will make things increasingly unstable, interchangeable, with local showers and thunderstorms occuring.
Possible poor conditions may occur at sea as there will be a noticeable drop in temperature there only on Tuesday night with a change in the wind. There will be a continuation of the heat wave across Dalmatia. After some very warm mornings again, the maximum temperature will stand at around 33 degrees. Moderate north-west and south-west winds will continue blow. In the second part of the day, the probability of local showers increases across Dalmatia, but most will see the first lightning and potential storms only on Tuesday night.

On Tuesday, it will finally become significantly cooler on land with moderate north and northeast winds and unstable weather. Most of the rain, even in the form of stronger showers with thunder, will fall along the Sava River or further south. It will once again be partly sunny on Wednesday, mostly dry and slightly warmer from Thursday onwards.
