October the 21st, 2024 – Visitors to the 2024 Zagreb Burger Festival have sampled it all and decided on the best burger houses and top three burgers of the ninth edition of this most popular street food festival.
On the last day of the 2024 Zagreb Burger Festival, we finally found out who the winners were! The stage that was previously ruled by Kuzma and Shaka Zulu, Connect and 11 of the best Zagreb DJs during the 2024 Zagreb Burger Festival, went to the true stars of the festival on its final evening (October the 20th at 17:00) – the people who prepared and served burgers for eleven entire days diligently and with a lot of love. Recognition for the first three places at the festival were awarded to the winners by Domagoj Jakopović Ribafish.
The prize issued by the Zagreb Burger Festival is a prestigious identification with which burger bars and their authors like to show themselves off, and with good reason. It’s therefore not remotely surprising that all of the participants of the 2024 Zagreb Burger Festival eagerly awaited the moment when the best were announced.
The best of the best were decided upon exclusively by the visitors and their votes, which they could cast via QR codes on the sides of the burger houses and receipts for the burger house and burger they loved the most. They could vote from the festival’s opening on October the 10th at noon until October the 19th at 11:59.
Ten of the houses that offered burgers fought for the affection and votes of visitors this year: from Zagreb’s legends and multiple award winners from Burger Bar and Dubrovnik’s Guloso Burgers & More, which even won the international Burger Festival in Belgrade last year, to the multiple award-winning Institute za burgere (Institute for burgers) by Mate Janković and Chef’s Burger by Ivan Pažanin.
We can’t possibly bypass the numerous awards taken home by the Zadar-based geniuses from Picnic Mingle & Fun. The audience also voted for the proven quality of Zagreb’s cult Good Food, the exotic burgers of Thai Thai Streetfood, the acclaimed creations of the newly opened Bold.Burger, the creative food of chef Vedran Stojanc and his Oui Chef on Wheels, and the excellent Grof Lovski.
Everyone had their fans, and both the media and visitors to the 2024 Zagreb Burger Festival repeatedly emphasised that they especially liked the colourful offer this year, as well as the affordable prices.
Who were the best participants of the 2024 Zagreb Burger Festival according to the visitors’ votes?
Chef’s Burger by Ivan Pažanin came third in terms of audience votes at this year’s burger festival. He presented new versions of his famous classics: Original Cheese 2.0, Creamy Pomodoro 2.0 and Crispy Kapula 2.0. Aside from the details of the recipes, unlike previous years, instead of brioche buns, the burgers were served in potato dough buns.
Picnic Mingle & Fun won the second place according to the audience’s votes. The eternally playful and inspired creators from Zadar offered their Smokey Cheez and Blue Cheese Burger in in addition to their classic Blackie burger and prawn burger this year.
The audience gave first place for the second year in a row to Institut za burgere (Institute for burgers) by Mate Janković, which offered Classic Cheese Smash, Onion Cheese Smash and Bacon Cheese Smash burgers at the 2024 Zagreb Burger Festival.
The highest number of points was won by Janković’s Onion Cheese Smash burger, which thus won the title of the best burger of this year’s festival. Second place went to Picnic’s Blackie burger, and third place was taken by Ivan Pažanin’s Creamy Pomodoro burger.
All of this year’s participants toasted with the awardees and celebrated the end of the extremely successful, ninth Zagreb Burger Festival. It once again showed that burgers aren’t just a trend but a true passion, and that the creations it offers are not only fast food but a true gourmet experience.
