We received a very nice email from Mirjana Svaguša with a little detail on a great addition to the Inland Dalmatia tourism scene – Autocamp Biokovo. In Mirjana’s own words:
This idea was on my mind for years, but 2 years ago I felt the time is right. I worked on the idea and when I had all the questions answered I talked to my family and got their full support.
Family support was the most important ingredient to make the camp idea come alive, and after we got a lot of help from our friends, extended family members and their friends and from the local people that loved the idea.
The whole process, from the idea to open a camp and finally getting the licence and opening the camp, was a great ride and opportunity to share great ideas and impressions with so many different people that wanted to help or just were curious in what are we actually are doing.
We had people staying in camp this year, so they gave great feedback on what to improve, new things to add but also we got lot supporting comments regarding the site itself and the atmosphere in the camp.
Cooperating with local government, Imotski tourist board and different hiking and cycling associations we hope to help to create a quality tourist offer

The campsite is located close to the entrance to the Nature Park Biokovo in the village Zagvozd (small village with cafe bars, shops, ATM, post office, historical buildings, bike trails, trekking and hiking routes…). Zagvozd is well known among local people for its festival “Glumci u Zgavozdu” and “Ribarska večer Bunje“.
It’s ideal for visiting inland Dalmatia – Dalmatinska zagora (towns: Imotski, Sinj, Trilj and Vrgorac area) but also due to a great location its only 15 minutes’ drive from Makarska Riviera and its breath taking beeches, hour and a half driving distance from Mostar in Bosnia 6 Herzegovina and 35 min drive from the 2nd largest town in Croatia – Split.
It can also be ideal stopover for all long route travellers, due to its terrific location close to all major Croatian traffic routs (Highway A1 and Adriatic highway D8).
Placed in the mountain countryside, this is an ideal place for those who want to enjoy country life, rich rural history, and stress-relieving benefits of spending time in nature and for those who prefer experience of an excellent relaxing holiday.
