Instead of pursuing careers in political science and economy, three ladies have done something completely different.
DAWG SWAG and Qushin, two local brands for dogs, were created as a response to the situation on the market of pet products. Entrepreneurs Viktorija Šebalj and Maja Cvetković are two names behind the DAWG SWAG, while Iva Goluža designed Qushin. They have already won over the local customers, and are now planning a breakthrough on foreign markets as well, reports Poslovni.hr on April 21, 2016.
Viktorija Šebalj and Maja Cvetković said that DAWG SWAG represents an opportunity for dogs to be turned into fashion stars. “After we completed our studies at the Faculty of Political Sciences, we decided to put our creative side to work and create something that was an unknown category to us before”, they said. As the owners of two small puppies, they came up with this idea primarily because of their dissatisfaction with the existing offer of clothes for dogs. They wanted to make nice looking, comfortable “hoodies” for pets to wear during the cold winter months.
While DAWG SWAGs are warm, colourful hoodies, Qushin makes pillows and rugs that can be adapted to the design of the home interior. Goluža, an economist, said that she imagined “a pillow that looks like something that is not necessarily a place for pets to rest. All the pillows for pets were made so that you know right away what their purpose is. I had a different philosophy”, she said.
Currently, DAWG SWAG is being sold on www.dawg-swag.com and through a partner network of shops such as pet shop Zvjerinjak, Pet Trotinet, Sretne Šape, and several others. They decided to launch the manufacturing in Zagreb, where they gathered a team that helps them, as they said, in the implementation of their wishes and ideas.
Qushin products are available on the web shop www.qushin.com and in the showroom in the Trešnjevka neighbourhood in Zagreb. Through the web shop customers from almost all EU countries can buy the products, and Goluža expects Qushin products to become available in some exclusive pet shops across Europe. This year, the plan is to enter the Western European market and investments related to this goal are already in progress.
