Some rather unexpected celebrity endorsement for Makarska and Biokovo.
No, Chris Martin and the rest of the Coldplay gang were not actually in Croatia during the filming but thanks to modern technology, beautiful Croatian scenery was added to their latest music video Up & Up, Index reports on May 24, 2016.
Few locations from around the world are shown in the video and in one of the takes, Chris is sitting on the Adriatic coast leaning on Biokovo mountain, and since the release of the video, just eight days ago, more than 18 million people have seen it.
„We are happy to see the shots of Biokovo and Makarska in their video“, said the director of Makarska tourist board Tonči Lalić for Index.
The Ministry of tourism also has plans to use this new video for the promotion of Croatia and Biokovo: „ Croatian National Tourist Board certainly intends to use the fact that world renowned band such as Coldplay decided to use the images of Makarska and Biokovo in their latest video. We are planning a special set of posts on our social media accounts for June 16, the day we mark the 35th anniversary of Biokovo being proclaimed one of Croatia’s 11 Parks of Nature. That is an ideal opportunity to present this unique natural pearl to the world“ representative of the Croatian National Tourist Board stated.
