With Ultra Europe quickly approaching, we over at Total Croatia News are trying to get as prepared as possible. While we sit back and check off our own lists, we figured it would only be fair to share some of our insider tips and tricks with you for getting through this blowout of a 3 day extravaganza.
We know it’s hot, we know you’ll most likely be drinking, you’ll definitely be dancing, and not getting much sleep. With all of those feelings combined, we are sure to get tempers and frustrations on the rise. We’re here to give you a list of what not to do in Split during Ultra weekend, and most importantly, how to stay out of trouble while you’re here.
Wherever you’re staying, please do not to throw loud and obnoxious after parties. If you do feel the need to party once the night is over at Poljud, we have a plethora of nightclubs on Bačvice beach that will run into the early hours of the morning and Kuka and Jungla are other great options. Whatever you do, keep the party away from your accommodation.

For some reason people thinking jumping in the marina by the riva is a good idea. It’s not. The water there is not as clean as the beaches a 10 minute walk away. You never know what you’ll come across as it’s heavily trafficked by boats and tourists, and it’s really not as easy to get out of as you think.

Public intoxication is something nearly unavoidable but please, by all means, don’t be “that guy”. Enjoy yourselves, enjoy your surroundings but please respect others around you. If you’re out and about screaming and making a scene you will get noticed (which is what you’re looking for) but the cops will also get called (probably not your plan). Have fun but keep it cool.

Trash, a no brainer, but still the hardest thing for people to remember to do. Please throw your trash away, please put out your cigarette butts in the various ashtrays and bins we have around the city. Your plastic liters of beer and glass bottles of liquor don’t belong broken on the floor or left for someone to trip over on Marmontova. Trash it. Bin it. Do it.

Stay clothed. This one seems to be very hard for many people traveling to Split these days. We know it’s hot, we know you worked 20 hours putting your Ultra costume together, but don’t expect to get seated at a restaurant or cafe in an ensemble that’s nonexistent. Definitely do not expect to walk into any churches or museums with your shirts off and barely there bikini bottoms. Word on the street is that you may get fined for inappropriate dress this summer, so please respect the people and establishments around you.

Which brings us to our next and final point: please respect the people and establishments around you. Be kind to the clerk at the convenience shop that just sold you 10 liters of Karlovačko. Be kind to the waiters at restaurants and cafes. Respect the apartment, hostel, or hotel you are staying at and please don’t trash anything. The city of Split works very hard to accommodate all 150,000 of you that come into our city for 3-5 days, and we expect that you can appreciate what we have done for you to make this a weekend you will remember forever. Respect that since there are 150,000 extra of you in our city this weekend things may take more time and places will be more crowded. Be patient, be kind, and have a good time.
