Enjoy the fish cooked over open fire and popular Slavonian wines.
A place rich in tradition and glorious history, Vetovo boasts the first Templar fortress called Veteri Castra which was built in the 13 century. A few years ago, the town also established its own Medieval Archery Championship. The appreciation of historical heritage and the revival of the past are what the organizers had in mind when they came up with events that recall the glory days of this fairytale town. They wanted to give Vetovo its rightful place on the map of many attractive summer events in the area of Požega-Slavonia County, reports hotspots.hr on June 25, 2016.
This is where the Fishermen’s Evening event comes in. It will again welcome the fans of fish dishes and quality beverage. Matiševac, a sport fishing club, will organize yet another fantastic feast that starts on 2 July. They will prepare fish specialties in traditional ways, and the guests will have the opportunity to taste the Vaneri Castra Association wines. One could say that this promises to turn into a true summer joy in Slavonian-style. And yes, “tamburitzas” will be there too, of course. Also, various folklore societies will join in the effort to offer a memorable entertainment to the guests.
Last year’s Fishermen’s Evening hosted over 2,000 visitors. Matiševac club made about 600 kg of carp cooked over open fire and numerous kettles of fish-stew. It was all gone in a moment, together with local wines that were served that night. Vetovo is a place that boasts a respectable number of well-known wineries, which will make sure once again this year that the visitors are not thirsty.
So, simply put, bring a good will, love for fish specialties and songs, and you are sure to have a wonderful time in Vetovo.
