Croatian “Barracudas” have beaten US team 7-5
Croatia beat USA in the first round of the Olympic water polo tournament 7-5 (2-2, 1-1, 2-1, 2-1) on August 6. 2016 in Rio De Janeiro. The match was a nervous one, the Croatians struggled to find the right form in the first half, and the first lead for the favorites was scored in the third quarter when Anđeli Šetka scored for the 5-4 Croatian lead.
One of the heroes of the day was the goalkeeper Marko Bijač, who had 13 saves in the game, and he was on the goal as Josip Pavić was resting after he was presented with the honor of carrying the Croatian flag at the opening ceremony of the Olympics.
Croatia started the tournament in style, but the second round match against Montenegro will be the real test for the team’s readiness for the biggest achievements.
