As American football is increasingly becoming more popular throughout Europe, the Croatian Knights Stadium in Dugopolje held an American football camp called “The Growth of the Game: Split Skills Camp” over the weekend.
The Growth of the Game, which works to promote football in Europe, in cooperation with the Croatian Association of American Football, organized an American football camp for the first time in Croatia. The intention for the camp was that it becomes a traditional annual event as it is already practiced in many other European countries.
The camp was attended by many top coaches including Daniel Levy, Eoin O’Sullivan, Alexandre Braga and Matheus Dias from Warsaw Eagles’s (Poland), Geoff Buffum from Calanda Broncos (Switzerland), Tyler Harlow from Cineplexx Blue Devils (Austria) and Clayton Lovett of Brazil’s national team. The coaches led practical trainings in the field and lectures in the classroom to teach a number of players participating in the camp.

Support and organization of this multi-day event was given by the Tourist Board of Dugopolje in hopes that such sporting events will contribute to the development of sports and recreational tourism in the Dalmatian hinterland, with the Dugopolje sports center as the future base for the Croatian national team in American football.
