No official statement from the Constitutional court yet but unofficial reports state his first verdict will be annulled.

According to Jutarnji List, the Constitutional Court of the Republic of Croatia will annul the verdict of Croatia’s former prime minister Ivo Sanader (he was sentenced to eight and a half years in prison for cases Ina – MOL and Hypo). Jutarnji List stated that this is an unofficial report, confirmed by two independent sources, one of which is from the Constitutional Court.

The Constitutional Court did confirm that the session of the Court was held on Tuesday. It’s unknown whether the decision was unanimous and what will be its exact repercussions however it is certain that the trial will have to be repeated since the constitutional complaint was accepted and the previous verdict annulled.

It is still unclear which Constitutional right was taken away from Mr. Sanader during the first court proceedings to result in this decision, but we will keep you posted as soon as the official statement is released by the Court.
