Will this summer ever end?
September has always been one of my favourite months on Hvar, but this year September has outdone itself. The weather has been mostly glorious, and it really is hard to believe we are in October.
And for one institution in Vrboska, the never-ending summer continues, whereas this time last year, it had already finished.
I have written before about the stunning success of the new Senses Resort, out by Soline beach, a tasteful 30 million kuna renovation of four-star quality on what was once the 2-star Hotel Adriatic, under long-term rental contract with the Czech Government for Czech children. Not only did that mean that Vrboska had no hotel to house its guests, but also that the hotel itself would shut in September, and opening (from memory) in late May.
What a difference a little vision and investment makes! Hotel staff used to putting their feet up will be finally catching their breath somewhat, as the VERY busy first season is starting to calm down. So successful was Senses with their new, more luxury look that the hotel has been completely booked until the end of Septmber, and will remain open until the end of October. Plans are also to open for 2017 in April, adding not only more than two months to the Vrboska season, but also providing the town with quality guests for at least seven months a year.
Not tried the new Senses? Here was our first visit earlier this year, and check out also the official video below. And if you want to learn more about Senses Resort ahead of a possible 2017 stay, visit the official website here.
