The Annual General Assembly of the European Federation of Napoleonic cities, which has 55 member cities, will be held for the 13th time. The conference will be held for the first time ever in Croatia this year, reports HRTurizam.
From October 20 to 23, Orebić will be the host for the International Conference “Cultural Routes – Destination Napoleon”. As Croatia was first selected as the host this year, more than 100 participants will be included, of which 80 will be from 15 European countries.
Among others, mayors are expected from Lubin, Bolesławiec, Pontivy, Montereau and Jena, the deputy mayor of Paris, a spokesman from the office of the mayor of Moscow, as well as scholars of the Sorbonne and other well-known European universities and museums. From Croatia, the conference will be attended by representatives of regional and local governments, tourist associations, development agencies and scientific and professional institutions related to heritage and research of the Napoleonic period.
“European cultural route ‘Destination Napoleon’ was last year certified by the European Institute of Cultural Routes, which acts within the framework of the Council of Europe. As Croatia is on the map of the respective route, we aim to expand the project and implement in its territory. The first step is a conference and annual meeting of the Napoleonic cities, or European areas where the listed cultural routes are already established,” said Dubravka Davidović, president of the Croatian Association of Tourist and Cultural Routes “Tur Kultur”.
Along with the European Federation of Napoleonic cities, the organizer of the conference is Croatian Association of Tourist and Cultural routes “Tur Kultur”, and is co-organized by the Croatian Association for Tourism and Rural Development “Klub članova Selo” of the company HF Eco Ethnic Group and Context Counseling.
“The main aim of these events is to activate the cultural and tourist routes in Croatia and initiate and implement as many tourist companies and projects of cultural, tangible and intangible, heritage in the field of rich Napoleonic history,” concluded Dijana Katica, the President of the Croatian Association for Tourism and Rural development “Klub članova Selo“.
